Self-awareness. Part II

To rest in vacations? Everything but your mind.
I have lived for fifteen years in a small tourist village. The environment is very pleasant and has many corners from which you can admire spectacular views. Every year thousands of tourists invade the village for their holidays. It is quite curious to observe the behaviour of people. Many do not disconnect, are nervous and annoyed, others put their minds on autopilot and look like zombies. There are also those who only know the beach and the supermarket.
What kind of tourist are you?
The mind is a powerful ally, but can become a staunch enemy if it believes the master. Going on vacation can be a good opportunity to teach her to obey.
If you are about to go on vacation, consider these tips:
1. Prepare everything with time. Your mind will try to move to the future, to the beach or to the mountain. Make a list of what you need to do before you leave and force yourself to do it step by step.
2. If you are going to drive, drive. Enjoy the road, stop to eat or drink. No need to rush. If you get bored, sing, tell jokes or look for inspiration in the landscape.
3. When you arrive, recognize the place you went to. Take a long walk, inhale deeply, smell (each place has its own particular smell). Observe and contemplate before using the camera. You have in your eyes an unbeatable 2D.
4. Plan each day carefully and execute your plans step by step. This does not mean that you cannot change on the fly. Just keep your mind occupied in what you are doing. Otherwise you will start thinking about the days you have left, when you should go back to work, on the money that is being spent ... On the return of children to school ...
5. Avoid routine. Look for new places to visit, things to do, food to try. Even if you are on vacation the mind needs to be active. If she goes on autopilot, she will begin to have negative thoughts. Take a rabbit out of the hat every day!
6. When you return, repeat steps 1,2 and 3. Yes, your house also has a particular and endearing aroma. Recognize it. It's your house, there's a part of you. Do not let your mind take you the day after when you have to go back to work. It will come, even if you do not think about it!
7. Thank what you have enjoyed, that everything has gone well. Lie down with those thoughts and you will see that you will wake up in a good mood.

We make the mistake of thinking that rest is total immobility. However, the mind has no stalemate. It has forward, reverse and autopilot. You can reduce her speed, but cannot stop it.
When I studied Mind Control methods, it was what we did:  we forced the mind to concentrate on one point, urging it to relax and give it a series of nice tasks. In that way, the alpha state was reached, where the brain is about to sleep, without sleeping. But the brain does not stop and the mind that holds it, either.
Another important fact to keep in mind: the mind generates thoughts. And thoughts generate emotions. Emotions cannot be controlled, they can be repressed, but they explode somewhere. The only way to control your emotions is to watch your thoughts. That is why it should be you who command and not your mind. She is a spectacular co-pilot, but she does not know how to drive.
